Former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy is all set to make his son Karthik Reddy political entry in 2014 general elections. Sabitha Indra Reddy alias “Chevella Chellamma” was elected twice in 2004 and 2009 elections from Chevella and Rajendra Nagar Segments respectively. Her second term doesn’t go smoothly during her political career. Late YSR appointed her as Home Minister. Being a home minister, she was faced lot of struggle during last 5 years. 

Both Telangana and SA agitations erupted in the state when she was in office. Opposition parties and as well as people also have common opinion that she failed to do her responsibilities. Adding to that CBI was including Sabitha’s name in Gaali and YS Jagan corruption charge sheets. She was not only the first woman home minister in India but she was considered as the first woman who steps into CBI court as culprit. After some time she was submitted her resignation to CM.

As per political buzz, she will not show any interest to contest in next general elections. She also believed that Congress High Command also not give tickets for those who involved in CBI cases. Keeping all these in mind, she has planned to field his son Karthik Reddy from Chevella. Reportedly, Congress High Command and gave permission to Karthik for doing his padayatra throughout the Segment. Karthik will conduct his yatra from January 08th to January 12th in the name of conveying thanks to Sonia Gandhi. Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy is the existing MP from this Segment. In 2014, he will contest as MLA from Mahabubnagar district. All hurdles are removed for Karthik Reddy to contest as MP.
