In a tragic case of a love story going terribly wrong, a 23-year-old girl, who was eloping with her lover, on being chased fell into a well and died in Chittoor on Sunday.

According to reports, Meena and Chitti Babu were lovers, but their alliance was not liked by their families as they belonged to different castes. In a bid to stay together the duo decided to get married. On Sunday, Chitti babu came to pick Meena from her house in Lakshmi Reddy village in Gangadhara mandal of Chittoor district, with his friend Yuvaraj.

The three of them quietly left on Chitti Babu's bike. But soon the families and the villagers got a whiff of their plans and started chasing them. Attempting to escape their chasers, the trio then ran into the nearby fields, but fell into a well.
The villagers soon reached the spot and managed to fish out Chittibabu and Yuvaraj but were not aware of Meena's presence. Only later they realised that even Meena had fallen into the well. On rushing to the spot on Monday, later, Meena's dead body was found floating in the well.
